Every successful brand can be destroyed when neglected or treated poorly! Read this article and discover the 3 things that may hurt or destroy your branding!

If you want to run a successful business and have a recognizable and powerful brand you need to nurture it and ensures it stays healthy. Every successful brand can be destroyed when neglected or treated poorly. Unfortunately, a lot of people do harm to their brand without even realizing that.

In this article, we are going to present you the 3 most common ways we hurt and abuse our brands and our business despite our good intentions:

  1. Everything to everyone – Your brand is what it represents and the features and characteristics that clearly separate your brand from the crowd and the competition are actually your brand’s strengths. If you try and focus on everything it is like you are focused on nothing. If you want to run a brand and a company that is built to last, it is important that you stay disciplined in the brand positioning. Even the biggest brands have to remain disciplined if they want to survive.
  2. Narcissism – A very common problem! It is when you are trying to make your brand a reflection of your own needs and desires. You need to understand that this is not about you. You need to serve your customers and make sure your needs and desires are satisfied. So, set your personal needs and wants aside and focus on meeting the customer’s needs and preferences.
  3. Handyman special – This is probably the worst thing you can do for your brand. You have a healthy and prosperous brand experiencing steady growth and suddenly you have a turnover on your team. A new person comes and he decides it is time to make a change and use another brand strategy. This is a huge mistake. You need to keep in mind that the brand strategy is a long-term plan. Even though it is recommendable to evaluate your plan and update your tactics from time to time, you shouldn’t change your strategy. You are better of to keep a consistent implementation of a proven strategy than to keep changing it in pursuit of a better one.

When it comes to branding, it is all about discipline. Radical changes and implementing something new can be fun for a while, but that is not the key to a long-term business success.
